The U.S. government is sorrily behind the times or even it seems blind to the fact of the use of soft power. They really only view sanctions as a tool for wielding economic power instead of exploring other avenues commercially. Additionally, there seems to be a blind spot in regards to soft power being used against our own. At times it appears that the economy is not considered within the construct of CIKR (Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources). The best way to combat the use of economics against us as a soft power approach is to ensure a strong economy, vet any foreign involvement by companies that are incorporated in adversarial countries, and not give up any significant economic strengths that are foundational to a strong economy.
