While within the academic world, politics and such usually do not play a role. The utopian idea of everybody working together for the greater good simply isn’t followed by our adversaries. China has been known to send spies over in the guise of students, particularly from the universities that are ran or sponsored by their military, with a secondary goal of stealing knowledge or tech. We, in essence, train our adversaries and help advance their causes and efforts
